1. Who we are
Globe Skimmer ("we", "us", "our") is a travel companion app that helps you plan trips, track expenses, and capture memories. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about how we use it.
2. What data we collect
When you use Globe Skimmer, we collect:
- Account information — your name and email address, provided via Google sign-in or email registration
- Trip data — itinerary entries, packing lists, budget expenses, and notes you create within the app
- Photos — images you upload to Moments are stored securely in our cloud storage
- Location data — coordinates you attach to itinerary entries (only when you explicitly add a location)
- Usage data — basic app interactions to help us improve the product
3. How we use your data
We use your data solely to provide and improve the Globe Skimmer service:
- To power your trip planning, packing, budget tracking, and Moments features
- To sync your data across devices
- To personalise your experience (e.g. displaying your name in greetings)
- To send account-related emails (e.g. email verification)
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Your account and trip data is stored on Supabase (our secure database and storage provider). To provide certain features, we also share limited data with:
- Anthropic — when you chat with Itchy, relevant trip details are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses
- Google — location searches and place details are processed through Google Maps and Places APIs
- Stripe — payment information is processed directly by Stripe for your one-time purchase; we do not store your card details
- Resend — your email address is used to send account-related emails (e.g. verification, purchase confirmation)
These providers only receive the data necessary to perform their specific function and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
5. Data storage & security
All data is stored securely using Supabase, which is built on AWS infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. Row-level security policies ensure each user can only access their own data.
6. Data retention & deletion
We retain your account and trip data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will delete your account and associated data within a reasonable time, except where limited retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. If we discontinue Globe Skimmer, we will provide advance notice and an opportunity to export your data before it is deleted, as described in our Terms of Use.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export your trip data

8. Cookies
Globe Skimmer uses local storage and session storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (such as dark mode). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
